DataControl™ provides dynamic access control with cryptographically enforced access control lists (ACLs). Like other BitArmor™ policies, access policies travel with data in Smart Tags™ so they are consistently activated on different computers and as data travels over various networks, regardless of where data has been sent or stored. DataControl gives your administrators flexible management options like the ability to configure access control lists by group or by machine to best fit your company’s needs and structure.

Access control policies are dynamic to keep your data protected, yet leave you with the flexibility to keep it useful. ACLs can be changed by authorized administrators as necessary, so at different stages of a project you can easily share documents with new team members or restrict previously authorized users from further access.

Precisely control how long authorized users can access data

BitArmor’s access policies work together with retention and encryption policies to limit the amount of time for which can be accessed. Access to controlled data is restricted once it reaches the end of its retention policy, so you can ensure that obsolete data won’t be used for longer than it should.
