DataControl™ includes a built-in system for automatic data classification to support efficient data management throughout your organization. This classification can be used for data identification or to conduct BitArmor™ audit log searches. It can also be used by third-party Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) or Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) products.

Classification settings are preserved in Smart Tags™ that travel with data as it moves throughout your organization. Whether data is stored on a laptop, desktop, shared drive, or even a USB drive, its BitArmor classification lets you record its activity in the central audit log. Bitarmor gives you the flexible option to either set classification automatically when data is created or have a data administrator apply it retroactively.
