Terminate access to obsolete data with BitArmor DataControl™
Smart Tags consistently enforce expiration dates throughout your enterpriseKeeping sensitive data for longer than you need to is a major legal liability. Obsolete data can be lost just as easily as viable data. Why take the risk of keeping it around? Policies in DataControl’s Smart Tags let you control what data you keep and control what data you delete with exact precision. Data can be permanently deleted with three steps:
Each Smart Tag may include an expiration date. Once a file reaches its expiration date in its Smart Tag, access is restricted to authorized administrators only.
After a file has expired, authorized administrators can either reinstate its previous access controls or destroy selected data via policy from a central console based on its Smart Tag policies. Files can be destroyed even if a machine that contains the selected data isn’t physically accessible.
Once files have been permanently destroyed, DataControl gives administrators the ability to delete those files and restore disk space they formerly occupied. Enforce company policy for destroying obsolete dataIf your company has policies for regularly disposing of obsolete information and documents, enforce those policies with DataControl’s data management capabilities. Implementing formal policies for destroying old data — and being able to document their implementation with DataControl — can greatly simplify data management and reduce the risk posed by keeping too much data for too long. |
